Katsu Chicken

Today we are cooking food from Hawaii. I grew up in Hawaii on the island of Oahu. My most favorite restaurant is a place called Zippy’s. They serve plate lunches,  which are a very popular way of serving food on the islands. I would order Chicken Katsu every time! It was served sliced on top of shredded cabbage,  with one scoop of white rice,  one scoop of Island Macaroni salad and always extra sauce on the side.

Char Siu - Oven Roasted

Aloha! So many different memories of growing up in Hawaii. Growing up there with 2 brothers and a sister,  my mom was always looking for fast and easy. Char Siu is something we ate often and used in so many dishes!  Now in Hawaii,  you can buy Char Siu in every store,  ready to slice and enjoy. But I don’t live in Hawaii anymore,  so I learned to make it myself. I swear it tastes as good as any I bought in Hawaii.

Macaroni Salad - Hawaiian Style

Enjoy a true taste of Hawaii right at home. Ready to serve in under 15 minutes - this is creamy and delicious. It is the best shareable side dish to bring to a potluck or serve at a cookout with friends. For a true "plate lunch" experience, serve alongside a scoop of white rice.  Add our favorite entrée - Shoyu Chicken, Teriyaki Steak, Garlic Shrimp or Chicken Katsu (to name a few) and enjoy!  Aloha!
